Internationalization

2019 the 3rd International Summer Camp Successfully Held in School of Civil Engineering, CQU

In order to implement and accelerate the "double first-class" construction of Chongqing University, also to practice the educational philosophy of "moral value establishment and talents cultivation" and the requirement of "internationalization" in the new era. From 4th to 14th July, the School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University held the 3rd international summer camp, attracting 37 undergraduate students, 2 faculty members from 7 universities in six countries including Australia, the United States, Italy, Russia, Poland and Korea.

Two days before the summer camp, participants from different countries and universities arrived in Chongqing one by one. They visited the Huxi campus of Chongqing University in a pre-allocated group with the volunteers’ company. The following ice-breaking session broke the language barrier and promoted the understanding and communication among the members of each group. It also fostered the friendship among the campers.

All the academic lectures were highly praised by campers. Prof Yeong-Bin Yang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, recalled his experience of being a student and impressed the campers with the courage and tenacity to challenge themselves and face difficulties under any circumstances. Professor Yukio Tamura, foreign member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a lecture on structural wind engineering, introducing the development of mathematical model to campers, showing the development of high-rise building design and construction methods in detail. Professor Guiwen Liu, from School of Construction Management and Real Estate, gave a presentation on the improvement of the construction industry through information technology, comparing the big data between western and Chinese construction industry, emphasizing the significant impact that information technology had produced towards construction industry. Eric Wang, the Associate Professor from University of Nevada gave a wonderful lecture by encouraging students to build model Bridges by themselves. Professor Meng Liu, Associate chair of School of Civil Engineering gave a lecture on green building. he showed the importance of green building by the means of comparing the effect among different construction materials.
