The Institute of Clean Energy in the School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, has 19 faculty members, including eight professors, eight associate professors, three lecturers, 12 doctoral supervisors, and 17 master supervisors. The Institute has formed distinctive research characteristics around the application of renewable energy in buildings, regional energy and ecological environment planning, clean energy development and utilization, renewable gas technology, efficient and low-pollution utilization of gas, building environmental safety and security, particular building energy supply and environmental control systems, and building environmental energy efficiency evaluation. The Institute has four members and directors of national professional societies, one vice-chairman of the Gas Branch of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society, one member each of the Professional Evaluation Committee and the Standards Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, one member of the Air Conditioning Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration, one chairman and vice chairman each of the Chongqing Refrigeration Society, and one chairman and vice chairman each of the Thermal Power Committee of the Chongqing Civil Engineering and Construction Society. In the past three years, the Institute has undertaken more than 120 national, provincial, and horizontal research projects, one provincial and ministerial level key educational reform project, with a research expenditure of more than 20 million yuan, and published nearly 100 SCI papers in international journals. The Institute has edited six national and other types of textbooks, and five monographs, won three provincial and ministerial awards, edited, co-edited, and reviewed more than 30 national, industry, and local standards. There are nearly 200 graduate students in the Institute, and they have won more than 20 national and industry research and design awards.
