From August 13th to 15th, 2021, the "Sixth National Engineering Risk and Insurance Research Symposium" was held at Chongqing University. This conference is under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering and jointly organized by the Engineering Risk and Insurance Research Branch of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, National Joint Engineering Research Center of Geohazards Prevention in the Reservoir Areas, Chongqing Research Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Wuhan Guangyi Transportation Science and Technology Co., Ltd. The symposium was also co-organized by the Ministry of Emergency Management, National Academy of Natural Disaster Prevention, Arup, Nanjing Kuntuo Civil Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., China Continent Insurance Co., Ltd., "Earth Science" editorial office, Shenzhen Pegasus Robotics Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangxi East Tunnel Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Jiangwei Times Technology Co., Ltd., "Chinese and English Edition of Civil and Environmental Engineering" and "Journal of Mountain Science" editorial offices.

Affected by the epidemic, this conference was held offline and online. The offline attracted more than 100 scholars, experts, and graduate students from more than 40 universities, insurance and engineering units. Until 11 o'clock in the morning of August 15th, the number of online live broadcast participants reached 15,000. The purpose of the conference is to further exchange the latest research and practical engineering experience in the field of engineering risk and insurance, and jointly promote the level of engineering risk management and insurance management in China.

The symposium organized 15 specially invited reports, 16 invited reports, and 121 reports in 9 sessions of online sub-venues including the special sessions, the master forums, and the International Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Data Competition. The symposium is divided into tunnel and underground engineering risk, first-class English journal in the field of geotechnical and geology organization forum, teaching reform on the engineering reliability and risk forum, earthquake landslide and geological disaster risk, earthquake liquefaction disaster and risk assessment, and responsibility for potential defects in practice construction engineering quality Insurance (IDI), big data and machine learning in risk prevention and control, wind disaster and marine engineering risk, intelligent management on engineering risk and control forum, water conservancy and hydropower engineering risk, engineering insurance theory and practice, master and doctoral postgraduate forums, etc. Deep discussions were given in the symposium closely focusing on engineering risk and insurance.

With the end of the opening ceremony, the special academic reports of the main venue and the branch venues began one after another under the leadership of Academician Xiangsheng Chen, bringing academic feasts to the participating experts and scholars.

In this symposium, Academician Xiangsheng Chen actively advocated a three-dimensional resilient city system consisting of resilient cities and holographic perception and intelligent resilient management. The report pointed out that the creation of super-large resilient cities is of great significance to the future development of cities. When disasters or emergencies occur, whether a resilient city can perceive, respond quickly, recover quickly, keep the city basically operating normally, and better respond to future disaster risks through self-regulation is vital to city safety, and it also shows the solutions and ideas for various disasters for the futures of cities.

On the morning of August 15th, with the conclusion of the report by Professor Guoqing Huang of Chongqing University, the academic reports of the 6th National Engineering Risk and Insurance Research Symposium were all successfully completed.

The closing ceremony of the symposium was held at 11:50 am on August 15th. The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Dongmei Zhang of Tongji University, and the winners of the ISSMGE data competition and the postgraduate forum were announced. At the same time, the publicity introduction was given for the host of the "Seventh National Engineering Risk and Insurance Research Symposium" which will be held in Nanchang in 2023.
