PhD candidate Mr Liang Han’s recent paper "Rockhead profile simulation using an improved generation method of conditional random field" was selected as the cover paper of the March 2022 issue, Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (JRMGE), which is internationally reputable in geotechnical engineering.

His study proposed an improved method to reverse the rockhead profile, which is based on the Bayesian framework. By dealing with the uncertainties in rockhead profile itself and in statistical mean value, this method reduced the subjectivity in determining prior parameters, so that the reverse results will be stable and reasonable. Furthermore, the whole reverse process is almost completely done by theoretical analysis, which improves both the accuracy of the reverse results and computational efficiency. As a notable domestic journal in geotechnical engineering, JRMGE is selected as the Journal List of the Project for Excellence in Chinese Science and Technology Journals.
