Joint seminar by City U. and CQU successfully hold

From December 5 to 7, 2023, Chongqing University and the City University of Hong Kong organized a successful seminar on "New Urban Infrastructure Construction and Practice" in Chongqing. Under the direction of Associate Chair of the School Prof. Wengang Zhang, the exchange program seeks to develop technical cooperation and academic exchanges between the two universities while working together to investigate novel approaches to efficient indoor environment control technologies and urban construction.



On December 5th, the academic seminar was formally inaugurated. The CPC SCE Committee secretary, Professor Jianmin Hua, opened the seminar with a welcoming remarks. Two stages of scholarly presentations made up the seminar; Professor Wengang Zhang hosted the first one. City University of Hong Kong staff and students were cordially welcomed by Professor Hong Liu, Executive Deputy Director of the National Center for International Research of Low-carbon & Green Buildings, Most.

Professor Wengang Zhang provided a thorough overview of the school's recent accomplishments and advances in disciplinary areas and scientific research. Professors Gongsheng Huang and Tao Zhou from the City University of Hong Kong's School of Management Science & Real Estate, as well as Yu Wei from our institution, also thoroughly shared the most recent findings of our individual teams' research on the subjects of "Personalized Radiation Cooling Technology," "Urban Form and Air Quality," and "The Impact of Indoor Environment on the Health of the Elderly."



Assistant Researcher Ziqiao Li hosted the second portion of the academic session. The PhD students from City University of Hong Kong and Chongqing University presented an engaging report on their individual studies on innovative urban design, operation, and effective indoor environmental management technology. Following the seminar, Associate Professor Yong Cheng took the teachers and students of the City University of Hong Kong on a tour of the Chongqing University campus and History Hall. This allowed the teachers and students to gain a thorough understanding of the campus and historical development of the university, as well as a deep understanding of the academic tradition and development process of Chongqing University.



Associate Researcher Jinquan Shi took a team to the Dazu Stone Carving Research Institute on December 6 for a field tour. The goal of the visit was to see the technology used to conserve the cultural artifacts carved into Dazu rocks and to demonstrate how the school's advanced technology is used in significant national initiatives. In addition to offering educators and students a unique educational experience, the preservation and restoration of the Dazu rock carvings demonstrates the critical role that civil engineering plays in the preservation of cultural heritage.



Professor Wengang Zhang took the lecturers and students from City University of Hong Kong on a technical visit to the "Liangjiang New Area-Changshou District Expressway Project" on December 7th in order to see the project's innovative technology and construction methods. Following the visit, Professor Wengang Zhang provided an overview of the seminar's key takeaways and accomplishments. Professor Zhang emphasized that this seminar has strengthened the academic and technical ties between the two universities and expressed his hope to continue long-term exchanges with the City University of Hong Kong. He also thanked the teachers and students from Hong Kong for attending once more.



Associate Professor Yong Cheng led the instructors and students from City University of Hong Kong on a tour of the National Center for International Research of Low-carbon & Green Buildings of Chongqing University following the seminar. During the tour, he provided a thorough overview of the primary HVAC direction laboratories and supporting platforms, which fully reflected the discipline construction's overall development.
