Professor Li Baizhan was appointed as an honorary professor of the University of Debrecen

On July 2, 2025, the University of Debrecen in Hungary held a graduation ceremony and an honorary professor appointment ceremony. Professor Li Baizhan from the School of Civil Engineering of Chongqing University was officially appointed as an honorary professor of the University of Debrecen with a unanimous vote (58 votes) by the university president and the university council. The vice president of the University of Debrecen and the dean of the School of Engineering jointly presented the honorary professor certificate to Professor Li Baizhan. After the ceremony, professor Zoltán Szilvássy, the university president, had a kindly conversation with professor Li Baizhan.

University of Debrecen, founded in 1538, is one of the oldest public comprehensive research universities in Hungary. It comprises 13 faculties and 2 independent colleges, with a significant proportion of international students. Its faculty of engineering holds substantial academic influence in fields such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and environmental engineering.

Li BaiZhan, a secondary-level professor and doctoral supervisor at Chongqing University, is a national high-level talent, a national teaching celebrity, the leader of the Huang Danian-style teacher team at a national university, a national outstanding teacher, a visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge, and the vice supervisor of the China Association for Energy Conservation in Construction as well as the deputy director of the China Green Building Committee. Professor Li permanently engages in scientific research, innovative talent cultivation, and engineering practice in the fields of green and low-carbon buildings and sustainable urban development. Besides, professor Li has established multiple national level international joint research platforms, including the International Joint Research Center for Low Carbon and Green Buildings of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Key Laboratory of Ecological Environment in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area of the Ministry of Education, and the Innovation and Talent Introduction Base of the Ministry of Education. Also, professor Li has led and completed more than 30 key projects and projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation, international cooperation, and national science and technology. His first author won the second prize of the 2020 National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, and multiple first prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels. In 2023, professor Li was awarded the National Outstanding Teaching Award.
