SCE Delegation Visited NTU and NUS in Singapore


After the academic visit to HK universities, SCE delegation flew to the second destination: Singapore. The two world-leading universities in the city country are Nanyang Technological University (Ranked 12th in 2019 QS University Ranking system) and the National University of Singapore (Ranked 11th in 2019 QS University Ranking system).



The recruit talk in school of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) NTU was held in Seminar room A, hosted by Prof. Chu Jian and delivered by Prof Qiang Xie. The topics include the introductions of Chongqing, Chongqing University. More details about the history of civil engineering disciplines, faculty status, platform development, laboratory building and construction and policies of talent introduction were presented. More than 20 PhD candidates from CEE and other related schools actively participated the talk. They discussed with the delegation on the research team and centers, personnel welfare, annual appraisal criteria, and so forth. After the talk, the scholars consulted the delegation individually about things they cared more. Later, the delegation visited the geotechnical labs, the structural labs as well as the GEM3 mobile Vehicle Laboratory.




The recruit talk to research staff and PhD students of National University of Hongkong was held on the afternoon session of 8th April at E1 #6-3, NUS, chaired by Asst Prof. Darren Chian. Prof Xie shared with the present scholars with the personnel and family welfare, career development and plan, youth talent program support, reference standards for talent introduction and cultivation in Chongqing University. The young scholars discussed with the delegation on the discipline development strategy, the equipment and facilities in the laboratories and the annual appraisal criteria, etc. After the talk, the delegation visited Prof. CF Leung Asst. Prof Raymond Ong of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and exchanged the school token with the department.



 

The Singapore visit witnessed SCE’s willingness to attract oversea talents from top universities abroad and the determination to speed up the building process of the Double First-class Initiative.
