On September 17, 2022, Prof. Liu Meng, convenor of the course construction of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Application, gave a demonstration open class for live broadcast through the virtual teaching and research office and other platforms. This open class was organized by the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering and Virtual Teaching and Research Office of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering Course Group of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and undertaken by the Department of Construction and Environment of School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, and the Education Textbook Branch of China Architecture Publishing & Media Co., Ltd.

From the perspective of interdisciplinary, Prof. Liu Meng introduced the basic development history and characteristics of artificial intelligence, and basic characteristics, sources, and data processing of big data, and analyzed the characteristics of government data, social data, enterprise data, open organization data, intelligent facility data and other data as well as the particularity of big data processing. Then five examples were used to share the application of big data in the field of building and architecture . in the final summary, it’s pointed out that under the cross-disciplinary demand, big data should be used to “add” professional development, and professional knowledge should be used to “subtract” big data, so as to realize the value added of information assets.

This demonstration public class was broadcasted online simultaneously through the Virtual Teaching and Research Section, the platform of China Architeture Publishing & Media Co., Ltd. and the platform of Coxiang, etc. More than 4,000 people watched it online and more than 30,000 interactive message were received.
