Recently, China Society for the Promotion of Science and Technology Commercialization (CSPSTC) announced the winners of the Third Science and Technology Awards. SCE staff, Prof. Wang Yuhang’s Scientific and technological achievement, steel-prestressed concrete mixed structure tower tube technology for wind turbines, won the first prize, which is the only one first prize in civil engineering field this year.

At present, China's onshore wind power development is facing the development trend of long blades, high hub, large capacity units and wind power industry affordable Internet. Prof. Wang’s project group developed a high stiffness, good stability, low comprehensive cost advantage of steel and prestressed concrete composite structure tower drum after the in-depth cooperation of industry-university-research for 5 years. Integrated different methods, such as experimental research, numerical simulation and theoretical derivation, The project group introduced the performance of prestressed concrete tower segment joint analysis theory and the bearing capacity calculation method, established the transfer based on the technology of concrete filled steel tube structure analysis theory and design method, put forward optimization design method of the whole structure of the tower drum and efficient construction technique.
