On February 17, 2022, Yang Yongchao, assistant professor of Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) was invited to deliver a presentation titled “Structural Dynamic Test and Analysis Enhanced by AI” by Prof. Yang Qingshan and Prof. Liu Gang. This academic report was presided by Prof. Liu Gang. More than 60 faculty and students attended this lecture.
Starting with the characteristics and defects of traditional sensors, assistant professor Yang Yongchao pointed that computer vision technology offered the advantage of full field and high spatial resolution, which could realize the high-resolution measurement and modeling of complex structures in temporal-spatial domain, so as to analyze and predict the dynamic response of structures with higher accuracy. However, this high spatial resolution will increase the computing cost. The lecture integrates the powerful computing and modeling ability of machine learning with computer vision technology, so as to break through the bottleneck of sensor technology and hardware.
In the Q & A part, SCE faculty and students discussed with Yang Yongchao in depth on relevant issues.
