Machine learning/ deep learning algorithms and their applications in (geotechnical) engineering, SCE’s graduate course was carried out from May to June, 2022. This course was taught by a research fellow, Wang Zezhou from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore, and Prod. Pijush Samui from Patna National Institute of Technology, India (NIT Patna).
This course has a total of 16 credit hours, taught in English and delivered online through Zoom conference. More than 90 students had enrolled. The two teachers combined their personal research achievements and engineering cases to present hot topics such as machine learning, deep learning and optimization algorithm application in civil engineering, including federated learning, substitute deep learning, bionic optimization and swarm intelligence.
Students all expressed that this course closely followed the academic frontier, and the contents were closely linked. They learned a lot about machine learning and optimization algorithms, and their global vision and academic literacy were improved a lot.
