On March 3th, 2022, the Lecture of Studying Aboard Guidance was held by the Career Development and Employment Guidance Center of Chongqing University (CQU) and the School of Civil Engineering (SCE). Zhang Rui, from Office of International Affairs and Teacher Lei, who has abundant guidance experience, attended the lecture. They helped the students further understand the policies and related programs of studying abroad and make a comprehensive career plan according to their own situation. Ma Ji, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SCE, Liu Lijuan and Wang Mengzhen, counselors of sophomore and more than 60 students from other schools of CQU attended the lecture.
Zhang Rui gave lecture from three aspects: whether and why you need to study abroad, how to go abroad". She analyzed the environment at home and abroad, introduced some programs of CQU, the financial support of CQU and each school for these programs. She also emphasized the significance of the exchange programs for the national demand on high-level talents. After that, she shared the stories of the seniors who had participated in the exchange program and successfully went abroad for further study. Zhang also reminded students to plan in advance and prepare for the language test from their sophomore year, actively obtain information through various channels and prepare the materials.
Teacher Lei analyzed the admission policies and requirements of different levels of colleges and universities in Europe and America, Australia, Canada and Asian countries, as well as those in Hong Kong and Macau, and introduced the living budgets and scholarships in different countries and regions. Teacher Lei suggested students to choose colleges and universities in line with personal development and their own situation, to make long-term plan, and then improve themselves in the light of the requirements of target university and prepare application materials in advance.
Finally, Liu Lijuan and Wang Mengzhen encouraged the students to make full use of the platform of CQU, pay attention to the websites of the target university and college to get information in time, take the initiative to apply for overseas exchange and study programs for studying abroad.
