Personal profile

Qingshan Yang received his Ph.D. in structural engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 1995. He works on the faculty at Chongqing University as the Dean of School of Civil Engineering, the Distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program as well as the Holder of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. His research has been primarily in the areas of wind engineering and wind energy utilization. Dr. Yang has led a number of key projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the China-Japan Joint International Cooperation Project, and the International Cooperation Key 111 Projects entitled "Base for Introducing Talents of Discipline to University on Mitigating Wind-induced Disaster of Wind-sensitive Infrastructures" and "Base for Introducing Talents of Discipline to University on High-performance Wind Energy System and Effective Operation." He is the Deputy Director of the Wind Engineering Committee of China Civil Engineering Society, deputy Director of the Space Structure Committee of China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, and member of the Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics Committee of China Aerodynamics Research Society. Dr. Yang has published more than 500 SCI/EI papers and 3 monographs as the first author. He is the chief editor of the Chinese National Standard for wind loads on roof structures. He has won 18 science and technology awards for his research efforts, including National Science and Technology Progress Award Second Prize, Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award First Prize, Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Award First Prize, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award and Youth Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education of China.

1. Structural wind engineering: wind resistance of large-span and high-rise buildings, pedestrian wind environment
2. Wind energy utilization: wind resources assessment and development, wind turbine structure analysis
3. Structural analysis and health monitoring of ancient buildings

Latest Publications
3 monographs have been published as the first author.
