The Institute of Engineering Construction in the School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University has a staff of 22 people, which includes 6 professors, 3 associate professors and 13 lecturers. The institute includes the Modern Architecture Research Center, the Building Information Modeling Center, the High Performance Computing Center and the Spatial Structure Research Center. The research fields of the institute include structural analysis and control of complex buildings during construction, cable-membrane structure design and construction technology, green construction and building industrialization, building construction and informatization, and engineering project management.

The Institute of Engineering Construction has presided over and participated in the construction technology research and project management consulting work of a number of national major and key engineering projects. By theoretical and experimental research, the institute focuses on the transformation and application of research results in national and local engineering construction. The institute is committed to long-term research work in the field of civil engineering construction. To meet the transformation and upgrading needs of the country's construction industry, advanced construction technology research and application has been carried out. Innovative breakthroughs have been achieved in efficient construction technology, safety monitoring and control technology, prefabricated building technology, intelligent equipment and facilities, intelligent management and operation. It has solved the technical problems of construction and management of many major projects in China, and provided strong support for the industrialization, green and intelligent development of China's construction industry.
