Chongqing University and Mongolian University of Science and Technology have launched a series of exchange activities

From October 13 to 16, 2025, Badmaanyambuu Ranjil, vice president of Mongolian University of Science and Technology, a member of the Belt and Road University Science and Technology Cooperation Alliance, and his delegation visited Chongqing University. They carried out in-depth exchanges on issues such as the signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation, the construction of the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory and academic cooperation, and promoted the practical cooperation between the two universities in the field of engineering science and technology to a new level.

On the morning of October 14th, Li Jian, vice president of Chongqing University, warmly met with the visiting delegation and systematically introduced the school’s progress and achievements in the construction of “Double First-Class”, the development of advantageous disciplines, and international cooperation and exchange. He hopes to take this visit as an important opportunity to expand the further collaborative research between the two sides in characteristic fields such as efficient utilization of wind energy and extreme climate engineering, and achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages. Vice president of MUST Badmaanyambuu Ranjil introduced the school orientation, characteristic disciplines and key development directions of Mongolian University of Science and Technology in detail, clearly expressed the strong will to deepen cooperation in the development and utilization of new energy, sustainable infrastructure construction and other fields, and the two sides finally reached a consensus on signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and jointly building the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory. After the meeting, the delegation visited iconic places such as the history museum of Chongqing University, the district engineering school building, and the writing studio, to intuitively experience the profound historical heritage and unique cultural atmosphere of the school.

On the afternoon of October 14th, professor Zhang Xiaoming from the school of civil engineering led vice president Badmaanyambuu Ranjil and his delegation to visit the National Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Safety and Resilience in Mountainous Areas, to gain an on-site understanding of the laboratory’s research platform, research direction, and application of achievements. Subsequently, the two sides held a seminar on the preparation scheme for the declaration of the “the Belt and Road” joint laboratory. Xie Qiang, secretary of the party committee of the college, Xie Hui, deputy director of the international cooperation and exchange department and vice president of the institute of science and technology development, Li Hui, deputy director of the national key laboratory of power transmission and transformation equipment technology, and others attended the meeting. Zhang Xiaoming presided over the seminar. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on key issues such as the functional orientation, core research direction, operating mechanism and promotion path of the joint laboratory, and made it clear that the laboratory will focus on the practical needs of new energy industry development and engineering resilience improvement, and strive to build a high-level international cooperation platform in the field of energy and engineering in countries along the “the Belt and Road”. Vice president Badmaanyambuu Ranjil stated that Mongolia provides strong policy support for the development of renewable energy resources. The university will provide supporting measures in areas such as research project initiation, teacher-student exchanges, and academic resource sharing, fully supporting the preparation work for the application of the joint laboratory between the two universities.

On the morning of October 15, the two sides held an academic exchange meeting on the innovation project of the “the Belt and Road” University Science and Technology Cooperation Alliance. At the meeting, associate chair Wang Yuhang of the college delivered a welcome speech, and professor Zhang Xiaoming’s team, professor Li Yutong’s team, and researcher Li Tian’s team reported on the research progress and phased achievements of the innovative project in turn. Also, professor Khayankhyarvaa Sarangelel from the School of Electric Power Engineering at Mongolian University of Science and Technology gave academic presentations titled “Analysis of Key Parameters Affecting Solar Power Generation”, while associate professor Munkhtuya Erdenebat gave academic presentations titled “Renewable Energy Sector, Policies, and Research Directions in Mongolia”. Scholars from both sides discussed the content of the report, and the college’s master’s and doctoral students, as well as international students, actively participated in interactive exchanges.

On the afternoon of October 15th, Xie Zhaokun, deputy director of the management committee of Chongqing University science city campus, accompanied the delegation to visit the science city campus. The delegation successively visited places such as the student cross innovation center, sports center, engineering building, and science center to conduct on-site inspections of the campus’ modern educational facilities and good educational atmosphere. At the student cross innovation center, vice president Badmaanyambuu Ranjil inquired in detail about the construction process and training mode of the Chongqing University Formula Racing Team, and highly praised the team’s excellent performance in winning the double special championship in the 2025 China University Formula Racing Competition. At the sports center, the delegation observed the scene of associate professor Li Xuerui from the School of Sports and the 2012 London Olympics women’s singles badminton champion guiding students in badminton training, and intuitively felt the characteristic sports teaching method of Chongqing University.

The successful holding of this visit and a series of activities further consolidated the foundation of friendly cooperation between Chongqing University and Mongolian University of Science and Technology under the “the Belt and Road” cooperation framework, injected strong impetus into the joint laboratory construction, scientific research project cooperation and talent training of both sides, and was of great significance to promoting high-quality cooperation and development between the two universities.
