On February 14, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China released the "Notice of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China on Announcement of the List of the Second Round of Universities and Construction Disciplines included in “Double First-Class” initiative on it’s official website, announcing the List of the Second Round of Universities and Construction Disciplines included in “Double First-Class" initiative and the disciplines of first round that have been given public warnings (including revocation) . Excitingly, Civil Engineering of Chongqing University (CQU) was selected into the second round of “Double First-Class” Construction Disciplines.

It is reported that a total of 147 colleges and universities were included in the announced list. Among the selected disciplines, there are 59 basic disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, 180 engineering disciplines, and 92 philosophy and social science disciplines.

Under the leadership of CQU, School of Civil Engineering will fully adhere to the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating people, and be guided by supporting the innovation-driven development strategy and serving the economy and society to focus on major infrastructure construction. It will also be committed to serving major national strategies such as “carbon peaking, carbon neutrality”, “rural revitalization”, “Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle” and “Western China Science City (Chongqing)” to build a first-class team, cultivate first-class talents, enhance the comprehensive strength and international competitiveness of the discipline, and promote the civil engineering discipline of CQU as the world-class discipline.
