The Chongqing University Forum for Outstanding Young Scholars at Home and Abroad's Civil Engineering Sub Forum was conducted online and offline on December 15, 2023, in the afternoon. At the inaugural ceremony were Jianmin Hua, the secretary of the School of Civil Engineering's Party Committee, Wengang Zhang, the associate chair of the school, a few instructors from different research institutions, and over thirty exceptional young scholars from both domestic and foreign universities. Wengang Zhang will serve as the host of the opening ceremony.

Wengang Zhang welcomed everyone and sent heartfelt welcomes to the young students during the inaugural ceremony. Jianmin Hua presented the school's development history, talent nurturing overview, construction research platform, and policies for attracting talent from outside. He claimed that Chongqing University's civil engineering program has advanced significantly in recent years and is now regarded as one of the best. He believes that by providing this forum, young academics would be able to showcase their goals and work together to create a world-class institution.

The head of the Department of Road and Bridge Engineering and a representative of young teachers, Professor Zengshun Chen, shared his personal experiences of growth and development concerning career planning, research direction selection, team building, financial support, campus life, and other issues that young scholars are typically concerned with. He asserted that superior research conditions, along with robust guidance and mentoring, are necessary for young researchers to attain superior outcomes. He extends a warm invitation to academics to join Chongqing University's School of Civil Engineering and advance the institution together.

"Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering" and "Building Environment and Energy Engineering" are the two sub-venues of the school sub-forum. The excellent academic presentations from over ten young scholars from various countries, including the UK, Canada, Australia, and Japan, covered a wide range of research fields. The themes discussed included the additive fabrication of civil engineering materials, low-carbon construction, high-performance concrete structures, low-carbon regional energy systems, and building energy conservation and carbon reduction technologies.

In addition to listening to academic reports, the school administrators, teacher representatives, and student representatives actively engaged in the forum. The participants reported having benefited a great deal from the intense and highly intellectual conversation.
