The Institute of Structural Engineering, within the School of Civil Engineering at Chongqing University, has a staff of 47 members, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 17 professors/researchers, and 23 associate professors/associate researchers. Its research areas include steel and hybrid composite structures, performance and design of concrete structures, prestressed structures, wood and bamboo structures, composite material structures, as well as structural inspection and strengthening. The Institute is dedicated to long-term research in structural engineering and has completed over 100 research projects to date, funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and various national ministries. Through theoretical and experimental research, the Institute places strong emphasis on the translation and application of research outcomes in both national and local engineering construction. In recent years, it has published more than 500 papers in domestic and international journals, received 4 national awards, 35 provincial awards, and 35 national invention patents, and has edited 21 national standards and 15 industry standards. The Institute has made significant contributions at multiple levels, including the cultivation of professionals for infrastructure development and economic growth both in Chongqing and across the country.
