On April 1, Prof. Shi Yongsheng, Dean of Academic Affairs of Mekelle University in Ethiopia, visited Chongqing University for an academic exchange.Prof. Liu Guiwen, Vice President of Chongqing University, attended the meeting. Prof. Yang Qingshan, Chair of the School of Civil Engineering, along with other relevant officials, accompanied the delegation. The two universities engaged in in-depth discussions on inter-university exchanges, disciplinary cooperation, and talent cultivation.

Prof. Liu Guiwen introduced the history and international development initiatives of Chongqing University. He expressed the hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further expand practical cooperation between the two universities in engineering and technology, while deepening and strengthening inter-university exchanges.
Prof. Shi Yongsheng introduced the strengths of Mekelle University in engineering, business, and medicine, and expressed his expectation that this visit would serve as a new starting point for promoting faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and summer school programs, thereby injecting new momentum into China–Ethiopia educational exchanges and industrial cooperation.

Following the meeting, Prof. Shi Yongsheng held a thematic seminar at the School of Civil Engineering. The two universities conducted detailed discussions and coordination on the establishment of joint laboratories under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as joint student cultivation programs.
During the visit, Prof. Shi Yongsheng toured campus landmarks, including the University History Museum and the Air-Raid Shelter, and visited the State Key Laboratory of Mountain Civil Engineering Safety and Resilience to gain further insights into the university’s historical development and cutting-edge advancements in related disciplines.
The associate chair of the School of Civil Engineering, Wang Yuhang, along with Prof. Li Yutong, Prof. Li Xiao, Prof. Zhang Xiaoming, Prof. Zhang Bingchao, and other faculty members, attended the meeting.
